Hillforest Victorian House Museum will begin its 2012 season next week, when it re-opens its doors to the public on April 1. Located in downtown Aurora, the 157-year-old Italianate-style mansion is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has also been designated as a National Historic Landmark. It is open for tours from 1-5pm every day with the exception of Mondays and major holidays.

Famous for its steamboat-style architecture, Hillforest is a graceful reminder of days gone by
Operated by the non-profit Hillforest Historical Foundation, the mansion has been restored to Victorian splendor, reflecting the way it might have looked in the mid-to-late-nineteenth century when it was occupied by the Gaffs, a locally prominent family.
The historic mansion, which is decorated in a period style that reflects its elegant architecture, will host a variety of unique exhibitions and special events throughout the year, including a special “Quilts of Yesteryear Exhibit” that features the museum's collection of antique quilts beginning April 1. Other April events include Hillforest’s Mystery Dinners – two mystery dinner theater performances scheduled for April 27 and 28. For more information or a complete listing of Hillforest’s 2012 calendar, contact the museum at 812-926-0087, find Hillforest on Facebook, or visit Hillforest’s online Calendar of Events.
