"A Roar of Thunder" Riverboat Regatta
Lesko Park, State Route 56, Aurora.
Enjoy the 14th year of tunnel boat racing on the Ohio River in the newly renovated Lesko Park. This is a free and family friendly event!
Aurora is on the Powerboat Superleague points circuit.
Food and beverages are available.
Opening ceremonies are at noon both days.
Powerboat testing is from 10AM-12PM each day.
Racing is from 1PM-4PM, with Championship Finals on Sunday.
F3(85-90mph) F2(115-120mph).
There will be an airshow both Saturday and Sunday,presented by Jim "Fang" Maroney and his legendary deHaviland "Super Chipmunk".
This aircraft has a 260HP engine and can reach speeds up to 200mph. It cruises at 150mph.
This year Aurora has been selected as one of only six venues in the nation to host an APBA(American Power Boat Association) professional driving school. Two two-seater powerboats will be available for the training, which includes safety and capsule training and on-water experience in a tunnel boat.
Once the course has been completed, participants will have the opportunity to show off their new skills during two-boat demonstrations as part of the annual Powerboat Superleague races.
Participants must be at least 18 years old. Cost per person is $350.00.

City of Spires Historical Museum
111 Fifth Street, Aurora. Open first and third Sundays, June through September, from 1PM-4PM or by appointment.
Aurora memorabilia will be included in a summer 2012 display, part of an extensive collection owned by Dave Hizer of Aurora. Samples of the display are advertising items, from the 19th century to the recent past,
signage, photographs and other items dealing with Aurora history.
City of Spires is located in the former Fifth Street Church, Aurora's oldest house of worship. It is equipped with beautiful stained glass windows, an early 20th century pipe organ and furnishings appropriate to a 19th century Ohio River Valley church.
The facility is available for rent for weddings, memorial services, worship services and other events such as showers, receptions and dinners. It will accommodate up to 90 people.
