Fri 8/25 - The Oxbow - Early Fall Migrant Shorebirds & Waders
6PM at the Upper Oxbow parking lot off US Route 50 in Greendale, Indiana. To avoid the heat, the August field trip has been scheduled for the evening. The focus will be birds, specifically early fall migrants. The southbound fall migration of shorebirds (sandpipers & plovers), long-legged waders (herons & egrets) and several other species, begins quite early and will be well underway. Join son and father trip leaders, Jack Stenger and Jay Stenger for a pleasant summer evening in the Oxbow. Unusual or rare species such as Little Blue Heron and Snowy Egret may also be found. The leaders plan to see several spots in and around the Oxbow, including Lost Bridge over the Great Miami. The trip will end around dusk (9PM). Bring sunscreen, insect repellant and water. 5PM. Dearborn Country Club, 170 Country Club Rd, Aurora IN 47001. For its 14th annual gala fund raiser, PAWS is once again featuring beer tastings by Aurora's Great Crescent Brewery, at the Dearborn Country Club, Aurora. The evening includes a buffet dinner, a silent auction of dozens of themed baskets, a Raining Cats and Dogs raffle of many items, a 52-card draw for a major prize and the Great Crescent beer tastings. Fri 8/25-Sun 8/27 - Hillforest Victorian House Museum
213 Fifth Street, Aurora. 1:00PM-5:00PM. Admission charged. Hillforest was the home of industrialist and financier Thomas Gaff and his family between 1855 and 1891. The home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1992. Fri 8/26-Sun 8/27 - River Cities Bike Share
River Cities Bike Share is the the first bike share program of its kind in Southeast Indiana and features approximately 30 “ready-to-ride” bicycles located throughout the cities of Lawrenceburg and Aurora. Equipped with a locking mechanism, the bikes will be housed at several docking sites in both communities, and can be reserved and rented via an app or onsite. Each of the Shimano seven-speed bicycles will be available on a ride-and-return basis. The cost to ride is $3 for the first hour and $2 for each additional hour.

Sun 8/20 - City of Spires Museum Summer Art Display
City of Spires Historical Museum and Foundation, Inc., 111 Fifth Street, Aurora. The 2017 Summer Art Display features artwork by youth from Southeastern Indiana. In addition to the artwork, guests are treated to a glimpse of the charming 1848 sanctuary of the former First Evangelical United Church of Christ. City of Spires will be open from 1PM-4PM on the first and third Sundays of the month from June through September. It is also open by appointment by calling 812 926-0944. There is no charge to visit the museum.
